I think there's just so much to cover in regards to this event, that I'll have to do it in various posts. For now, I'll do the easiest and just link some various coverage the event's been receiving so far!

On our first day in NYC, I found out that the exhibit was featured in the current Time Out New York magazine ~ C & Poptart were kind enough to pick up a copy for me and lo and behold, look what they used! Now *that* was an amazing, unexpected welcome to the city ~ for Fashion Week no less :)

My friend Dianna from Starkers got a mention too and I was so happy to see that!

Here's part of the FIT brochure, and some of the original images within. Wednesday's face was morphed onto a stock museum photo for the Time Out feature ~ can't say I blame them at all, she *is* infinitely prettier than the mannequin!

I highly doubt I'll ever find all the articles linked to this as the press presence there was *huge*, but here are some that others have been kind enough to forward to me since the opening:

Here are more by the same photographer, including one of the lovely Miss Valerie Steele:

Cool article highlighting some of the pieces from the exhibit, I'm sooo humbled to have my own work included amoungst them!

Wild ~ Can't say I ever considered being on the same New York Society page as Rihanna, Anna Wintour, Valentino, etc... Scroll towards the bottom to see photos from the Gothic exhibit opening:

How cool is this article from *Brazil*? And they chose the Midnight Bustle photo to accompany it (go Mel & Nadya)!

*EDIT* - I just got an email from Sweden saying,

"I just thought you might like to know that Dr. Valerie Steele mentioned you today in a lecture at University of Stockholm.

The subject was Gothic: Dark Glamour, and she showed a picture of your Isabella coatdress."

Surreal! I can't wait to share my own photos from the event and tell you more about the adventures of Fashion Week in New York!

Holy Crap! How awesome! I wish I could have gone!

I just want to say you have the BEST red carpet image, you look so wonderfully put together and beautiful!

Would you have happened to have saved any extra brochures? Maybe I could get FIT to send me one:P And would you mind if I repost these links and that scan in my journal?

I saw my photoshopped head on the Time Out New York website, and as I am flattered slightly it is more disturbing. Why the hell couldn’t they have used the original image with your beautiful coat. wtf!

I thought it was weird to see at first too since of course I *know* that face, but it makes sense in a way as they probably wouldn't have wanted to print "just a mannequin" and at the same time, I certainly am flattered enough that they used one of my photos and wouldn't have expected them to use yet another in the same article where there's *so much* amazing work on display ~ that could have been a bit lopsided. So, it's weird, but it makes sense. Just take it as a big compliment... That said, did you notice the waist of the mannequin was taken in a lot at the front too? Poor mannequin's going to develop a complex!

You know how much I was wishing you could be there... I wish I could have just sent a hot air balloon out your way to pick you up and have you delivered right there on the red carpet ~ where I'm pretty sure you would have had a fairly well put together look yourself my dear! Thank you for the compliment ~ from you, it's a high one indeed :)

I can't believe I didn't pick up more of the brochures than I did, but I *did* make sure that I got one for you, so I'll get that mailed out to you next week :) How lovely is it that in the few photos they used in the brochure that yours was one of them? I think it's amusing that it appears right next to the Victorian mannequin ;)

Of course you can save the scans and repost the links ~ I actually *wanted* to collect these for you!

Oh wow!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am glad you snagged a brochure for me:)

I think with your help I could have been put together pretty well... better than that poor mannequin! Did you notice the size difference, the head is TINY! lol!

Oh I wish I could have gone, but I am SO happy that you did. You deserve all this wonderful press for all your hard work and wonderful creative designs! As they say...You Go Girl!! :)

but wait, there's more!

Speaking of the Isabella Coatdress photo ~ I caught a peek at the preview copy of the book they had out at the exhibit, and that picture is given *a full page* in the book!
