Today's lunch/dinner:

It was my first attempt at making homemade Egyptian falafel, and it came out delicious! It's served on a bed of Punjab spinach sauce (Indian ~ thank you Trader Joe's), and presented with a pair of my great-grandparents chopsticks and a plate from when they lived in Japan. I suppose that's "fusion" cuisine for you!

(And yes, I made way too much ~ the plate above is only part of it, and there are leftovers) :)

Thanks! I've been inspired to create a lot of new dishes recently :)

Oh, and operation giant sleeves (the ones I was telling you about?) is working rather well!

There is no such thing as 'too much' felafel. You will find yourself going back to the refrigerator numerous times to munch on it. If there is any left by tomorrow, it reheats just fine, too!

I'm sure you're right ~ and the beauty of the leftovers is that they won't require any additional time/effort :) I just didn't expect them to be quite as filling as they actually are. Then again, when I think back to when I've had them in the past, there would only be perhaps three or four of them in a sandwich, so it does makes sense...

Those taamiya look delicious. That's one thing I really miss about not living in Cairo anymore...

And the chopsticks are rather nice, too.

Up 'til today, I pretty much assumed I'd only get proper ones when travelling, but at least now I know I can make them at home with good results.

I'm amazed the mother of pearl in the chopsticks is still neatly in place after all these years ~ they're probably around 70 years old at this point!

Mother of pearl chopsticks...the best thing in the world to keep unruly hair in its place! ;D

If you and J ever want to come for a visit, I'll make sure you feast like kings. We'll have to roll you back to NYC ;)

I was talking about this today while volunteering on a farm with someone. I think it is a sign it needs to be made.

Oh what a coincidence! Damion and I were just talking about wanting to make falafel!

Tonight I just made a wonderful new twist on spanokopita and it was immensely hearty.

There will be lots of cooking going on with us all when we get down there!

That's high praise coming from you :)

Sometime I should post a photo of the tempeh wings we made from your recipe. They came out amazingly good, but *wow* that's some kick to the spice ~ and I love spicy foods!
