There will be something like a dozen different silks mixed together into this one outfit ~ it was certainly an interesting challenge figuring out a way to incorporate all the various shades!

We were just discussing tonight how much we wish it could be so that you were able to come back to the East coast again this year. Of course we'd pick you up at ~the airport~ again ;)

I know from seeing your patchwork that you have an excellent eye for bringing different colors and textures of fabric together.. I can't wait to see this outfit complete!

I think if we were to fly East again.. we'd try to land in an airport a little closer to your starting point!! I would LOVE to travel again this year. So much I have not yet seen, and so many good times together yet to spend! This summer will be the deciding time, though.. with my eye on traveling in the fall, I hope!

It will probably have more colours in one ensemble than any other I've ever worked on... I think at last count there was something like twelve different shades of silk being incorporated into it.

When I think of all the countless hours of work people used to put into creations (especially before things like tv's, computers, etc... were a normal part of life), it makes me glad to be able to do something today that still honours that kind of dedication to making something special.

The challenge is just to incorporate the dozen or so colours (half cool tones/half fiery warm) in an elegant, cohesive way. Took some time figuring out the best way to do it!

I make bias often of my little precious scraps too lovely to be binned. But this pile makes me want to cry with the amount of work that's in it already!

I hope I'm seeing this right, because I see over locked- yardage of bias silk in two (most likely) shimmering tones!

I'm very glad you're finding this an inspiring project to work on. Collecting the silks was fun, but knowing that having an artist such as yourself turn them into actual wearable art gives new meaning to something I will treasure forever. Challenge? Yes, but hopefully an enjoyable one.
