World Goth Day Awards!
Mar. 21st, 2010 12:57 pm
I was quite surprised and happy to see Kambriel.com reached the final voting rounds for best shop in the World Goth Day Awards!
Lots of great company in there ~ from other shops, bands, models, club nights, individual male/female vocalists and musicians, festivals, etc... Clicking on the image below will take you to the voting page. Be sure to vote in both sections 1 & 2!

What I like best is that this is internationally based, including people/artists/festivals from around the world. Hopefully it will bring an awareness to others about what's going on elsewhere, beyond local scenes and some new discoveries can be made in addition to celebrating the classics (like Budgie!) :) 100% of the profits from their World Goth Day merchandise benefits the Sophie Lancaster foundation. They're also having people arrange their own diy celebrations to take place around the world on May 22nd, so feel free to see if a.) anything's going on in your neck of the woods, and b.) if you'd perhaps like to prepare an event of some sort of your own!

Date: 2010-03-21 05:22 pm (UTC)It's wicked cool! I admit to having considered it, but in the end had to vote for Budgie, because Dr. Avalanche being a member of the Sisters of Mercy would surely be dismayed at any "gothic" connotations ;)

Date: 2010-03-21 06:35 pm (UTC)I voted for Budgie. First he's a fantastic drummer, and second, he was so sweet to me when I collapsed from dehyration at thier book signing! (This was on the hottest day on record in the UK, probably not the best day to wear lots and lots of black, at least I was sensible enough to take off my corset ;p) I still have the water bottle, I'm such a fangirl!

Date: 2010-03-21 08:53 pm (UTC)It seems like the events are going to be of a wide variety of sizes, so if nothing's popped up in your area, you could always consider planning something on your own... even as simple as a themed picnic with a couple of friends.

Date: 2010-03-21 08:46 pm (UTC)Hopefully next year if they carry this on, that could be amended. I was just mentioning something along those lines to Libby, as there are certainly other categories where multiple nominees easily spring to mind.
(Not to mention, best illustrator/painter/artist, etc... *ahem*) ;)
