I was quite surprised and happy to see Kambriel.com reached the final voting rounds for best shop in the World Goth Day Awards!

Lots of great company in there ~ from other shops, bands, models, club nights, individual male/female vocalists and musicians, festivals, etc... Clicking on the image below will take you to the voting page. Be sure to vote in both sections 1 & 2!

What I like best is that this is internationally based, including people/artists/festivals from around the world. Hopefully it will bring an awareness to others about what's going on elsewhere, beyond local scenes and some new discoveries can be made in addition to celebrating the classics (like Budgie!) :) 100% of the profits from their World Goth Day merchandise benefits the Sophie Lancaster foundation. They're also having people arrange their own diy celebrations to take place around the world on May 22nd, so feel free to see if a.) anything's going on in your neck of the woods, and b.) if you'd perhaps like to prepare an event of some sort of your own!

Great :) I nominated your shop, so glad it got in!

I love that they have Doktor Avalanche down as "best drummer"

Doktor Avalanche as "best drummer"

It's wicked cool! I admit to having considered it, but in the end had to vote for Budgie, because Dr. Avalanche being a member of the Sisters of Mercy would surely be dismayed at any "gothic" connotations ;)

Agreed, I thought it was cool that Doktor Avalanche was on there, but I also voted for Budgie -- partly because I know the Sisters wouldn't want the award anyway, and partly because Budgie's drumming blew my mind in concert. When I saw him play I remember thinking, "There's a guy who really loves what he's doing."

Glad you're on there -- you should be!! I hope you and Wednesday are both recognized! Love the idea of a World Goth Day, though I must say I kind of wish it was on a Friday instead of Saturday. It'd give me a great excuse to goth it up at work.

I was wondering how he'd be able to pick up his award ;p Especially because he's been replaced several times with newer models!

I voted for Budgie. First he's a fantastic drummer, and second, he was so sweet to me when I collapsed from dehyration at thier book signing! (This was on the hottest day on record in the UK, probably not the best day to wear lots and lots of black, at least I was sensible enough to take off my corset ;p) I still have the water bottle, I'm such a fangirl!

My pleasure! I was slightly annoyed with the categories, if there was something as outlandish as "best model" (Wed got my vote though) I really thought that there should be a "best designer" rather than just "best shop".

I think there could have been other categories too ~ best jewelry designer, milliner, author, illustrator/painter... I guess they had to cap it off at some point, but there's a depth of other areas to be explored.

That's incredibly sweet of you! I know there were plenty of categories with so many great choices, it can be hard to narrow it down to just one choice in some cases.

Congratulations! I do think your shop definitely has the class. This is a nice little event they are trying to do. Wish I knew a few people around where I live to do something that day. Will have to take a look at that site to see what turns up.

Oh, I don't know about that ~ you know the phrase "it's just an honour to be nominated"? That definitely holds true here :)

It seems like the events are going to be of a wide variety of sizes, so if nothing's popped up in your area, you could always consider planning something on your own... even as simple as a themed picnic with a couple of friends.

If it was eloquent at all, colour me impressed as I've been rushing around getting things ready for the trip, but yes, feel free to repost any of it you wish into your own :)

I wish you were coming to the Vampire's Masquerade Ball this Saturday!

Still no entry for Author though. Pity.

And rest assured, I'd be nominating Jillian in a heartbeat if they did!

Hopefully next year if they carry this on, that could be amended. I was just mentioning something along those lines to Libby, as there are certainly other categories where multiple nominees easily spring to mind.

(Not to mention, best illustrator/painter/artist, etc... *ahem*) ;)

Yeah, but I'd have to do some actual gothic art to really qualify. suppose the GCS book counts but it's a drop in the ocean.

Thank you!

I gave C my vote in the initial nominations round, but was happy to see Anders represented in a couple of the other categories :)
