From the Oscars to the Philippines :)

Sweet message from saber_kite in Manilla (Philippines) today:

Just saw Neil Gaiman at a book signing today. He wore the jacket over a dark t-shirt and proudly showed it off to the crowd, including the buttons. It looks more amazing up close. Awesome job!

That's the best part ~ the fact he's still enjoying it *after* the Oscars!


In other news, most everything's packed for the Vampire's Masquerade Ball in Portland, with "three uh, boxes..." (points for those who get the Bela Lugosi "Dracula" reference) already on the way for the booth. Here's hoping much of what we bring will find new appreciative homes so there will be less to carry/ship back!

I have noticed practically all of what I'm bringing is either for the booth or photo shoots. My "practical clothes" so far consist of two shirts, a pair of bloomers and a skirt... for two weeks. I'm thinking I might have to re-evaluate that, else I'll be going out for VooDoo donuts donning either sequined or floor length sleeves... I suppose it ~could~ work ;)

Once I get back, I'm feeling a rather strong urge to purge through some of my collection of personal clothing ~ a lot of which has been held on to for sentimental reasons, but really deserve to be out there getting actively used and enjoyed. Hopefully that will happen in the upcoming months. Consider yourself forewarned!

I dreamed about you and C the other night. It was Spring and you guys came for your yearly visit. We had a big ole hug and C had a big fancy gig in the area we were all getting ready for. It was a fun dream!

Sorry i haven't replied to your e-mail; was waiting for word on the Savannah gig and as it turns out they cancelled the show. I still want to commission the dress for the May 8 Faith and the Muse show though! I will get measurements and send them off tonight or tomorrow.

What a pity about your show in Savannah ~ I had this master plan brewing about how to try and spend a few days together afterwards...

The dress will be fun to figure out/make, and I think you'll feel very comfortable in it too!

I don't know - I think going to Voodoo Donuts in grand goth style might be kinda fun! Just make sure you get something with a red jelly in the inside to fully complete your outfit - and stay away from powdered sugar! ;)

Things are going apace for coming to your picnic (and my lack of luggage space is curtailing me from making some of the other things I wanted to make beforehand, so I think it's in cahoots with you!) ~ is there anything you'd like us to bring?

YAY!!! :D Bring yourselves, of course! Other than that, maybe some drinks for yourselves for the picnic? Or if you have anything in particular you want to munch on, I suppose - though Tim and I are bringing enough to share. :)

We're going to pick up some cheeses, crackers, and fruit, and I might make some brownies, though I'm debating between that or making bread... hmm. Any vote? :)

I'm sure I speak for Carolee as well, when I say we *both* with you could be there!

The one with a massive amount of red braids? That was actually a wig I designed and commissioned to be made some years back ~ you kind of need an extra hairpiece to achieve such a look with *that* many braids. However, if you ever want something special made, my friend pandorasfox builds wigs professionally and I'm sure she'd be up for pretty much any challenge you can dream up :)

You might need something warmer for "practical" clothes, at least for the nights, which get cold even when the days warm up ("warm" being relative; warm to me is in the 60s F).. but that said, I love the idea of you stopping by Voodoo Doughnuts in spangles and long, trailing sleeves!

Since the bag space is pretty much all taken up, I may just have to dress like a penguin on the travel days and pile on the layers. I'll at least be sure to bring cardigans with which to layer!

I'm just rebelling against the seasons ~ I've been ready for Spring for about a month now, and even took our heavy curtains the other day in an act of defiance, willing the air to warm!
