Congratulations Coraline!

kambrielThe 2010 Oscar nominations were announced today and "Coraline" is nominated for an Academy Award as Best Animated Feature Film! The chillingly charming tale of friendship, family, and the other family was written by Neil Gaiman, and directed by Henry Selick.
Remember this photo of Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer (with Amanda in the silk bustle dress, made from antique silk my great-grandmother brought back from Japan) at the recent Golden Globes afterparty?:
The photo was taken by Heather Selick, wife of Henry Selick. Henry, as director of both "Coraline" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas"... puts the dire in director. ;)

Today is being spent putting the *vamp* in re-vamping an antique silk chiffon beaded spiderweb tunic that will be turned into a new, full length dress. Here's hoping I can do everything required without losing too many of the original beads which are already trying to make their break for freedom!
