noir et noir
Aug. 17th, 2009 01:20 pmThe beautiful black on black striped fabric I use looks like it's no longer being made due to the mill going under. Quite sad, as I do try and select fabrics from domestic manufacturers when possible to help keep these businesses thriving, but fewer and fewer fabrics are being made in the US independently anymore ~ where once so many were produced. I guess now there is one less company doing so.
This should also teach me to remember to make something for myself at some point out of favourite fabrics before they disappear altogether... I had even just come up with three new men's items to make from it as well.
mbarrick, there's enough to create the tailcoat for your wedding, but it looks like that will be the final piece from this material ~ so much like Elaine, you'll have a very unique outfit!
Ironically, here's a lovely new photo (modeled by Acid PopTart) of the Isabella Coatdress in the aforementioned material:

Edit: ~ I managed to locate some of the last remaining yardage of this, so a few more lovely pieces from this can still be made! :)
