I recently received a postcard for a Steampunk themed exhibit in Los Angeles at the Glass Garage Fine Art Gallery, featuring a painting by Margo Selski ~ an exquisite artist for whom I made a Midnight Bustle to wear for a different exhibit opening last year. She ended up using her outfit as inspiration for the central figure in this work entitled "The Ladies' Underwater Gardening Society, Class of '09"... what an unexpected treat!

Hang on, I've seen that Red Suspiria dress before. Didn't you design something similar for [livejournal.com profile] anricat? Because I've seen her in something similar in Mick Mercer's new book under the photos section for Mirabilis

Yes! I created the original Mirabilis Gowns (from which this is based) seen here:

That was a beautiful photo shoot of Summer & Dru with the peacock... how nice to hear one of the shots made it into Mick's book :)

I happen to think it's especially lovely in the purple version (http://www.kambriel.com/suspiria.html) too ;)

When the postcard arrived, I immediately recognized the material ~ then when I checked who the painting was by, it all became clear! She's extraordinarily talented ~ you should check out some of her other work:

:) The purple is lovely!

They're lovely pictures, I particularly like this one http://www.glassgaragegallery.com/lib/frameset1.php?artist_code=MS&id=53

They're a lovely cross between Dali and Tenniel's illustrations of Alice in Wonderland about them, with the faces of the serious Tudor aristocracy that would adorn the walls of all the galleries I went to on school trips! A really fansastical mixture!

The giant spork is hilarious! =D

I was wondering if you've tried making pants with the black-on-black striped material? I think it might look smashing.

Actually a few different custom men's outfits lately *have* had matching pants made for them... I don't think any have been made from the black on black stripe yet, but they would look quite dashing!

It's very pre-Raphaelite... actually, I think that style would be very flattering and romantic on you!

Don't tempt me, woman! My birthday is in July, I'm heavily considering it as a gift to myself.

I'll be sure to pass on the compliment! Did you notice the staircase in the background too? It's the same one from the other photo you enjoyed.
