So, I've been wanting to share this with you for a while, however I was too superstitious to bring anything up until I finally went through with it...

Yesterday I went into a studio to record some violin parts I wrote for a song called "Fell to Regret" that will appear on Monica Richards' new cd!

Many of you didn't know I play violin, and I hadn't recorded anything in years, so this was a total leap of faith for me (surely there's a Faith & the Muse pun in there somewhere), but all seemed to go very well, with the other people in the studio applauding after I finished my tracks, and if luck has it, you will be hearing me play on her upcoming cd! :)

Most people know me primarily through fashion design, but music's always been a passion of mine. Months ago (yes, I've kept it a secret all this time!), when Monica asked if I would add some violin parts to a new song she was working on, it filled me with a mixture of honor, excitement, and trepidation... I am so glad to have summoned the bravery to go through with it though. The canvas she provided me to work with made the inspiration come easily on a variety of levels, and it was a great feeling to play again!

That's because you are a dear and supportive friend who had faith in me when my own waivered... Thank you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother.
I loved the story of her riding to school each day on her horse. Maybe you should continue that tradition around Boston? ;)

That's fantastic! The violin is a beautiful instrument. I played for 3 years when I was a girl and I wish I would have continued.
I can't wait to hear you play on the cd. What an honor! Congratulations! :)

It's never too late to pick it up again if you want to :) There were years when I didn't play at all as other parts of life took over, but when you come back to it, you realize a lot of the technique you learned previously is still with you, and you bring more emotion to it all based on the life you've lived and experiences you've had.

No club smoke on me! I don't smoke, and hardly ever go to clubs nowadays, just on very rare occasions for special events or if a friend is playing. Even so, there's a smoking ban in MA, so it's a beautiful thing :) Clove essential oil however ~ well, you got me on that one!

First off, congrats on the Monica Richards/violin project, very exciting.

I wanted to follow up with you regarding NewWitch. The editor-in-chief says she will be delighted to send you a comp copy of the magazine. Just send her your shipping address. Her e-mail is: swniven@mcn.org (Anne Niven)

Also she is also interested in doing an interview with you for publication. She has asked if I want to do it. So if you are comfortable with that I would be happy to set things up.

Cheers,

Frank and Cheryl were kind enough to let us record at their Absinthe Soundworks (http://www.dreamchildmusic.com/absinthe.html) studio. This was the first time I'd stepped foot in a recording studio since I was a senior in high school, so it's been a long time!
