A grand October thus far...
Oct. 13th, 2005 05:43 pmWhat a week! Sure, it's now time to pay the piper and get caught up on lots of work, but how nice to drop everything for a few days and remember what a lovely area I live in and what great people I have in my life.
It all began with the Dead Can Dance show last week. It was strange... I was expecting something akin to a powerful spiritual experience, and moreso I felt the music and voices were providing a backdrop to that very moment ~ enjoying feeling the presence of having so many cherished friends scattered throughout the theatre. I may not always have the chance to spend as much time with them as I'd like, but what a blessing indeed to have such special people in my life that something as exquisite as Lisa Gerrard's voice and the depthful music of Dead Can Dance could serve as the frame in which to appreciate them all in that moment surrounded by warmth and majesty. I suppose it's moments like that which make you realize the divine is not something far away and distant, but rather something within reach ~ found in that & those you adore.
The next time I shall step foot in the Orpheum will be for Bauhaus, not a bad follow-up.
Afterwards, I got a few more Halloween orders taken care of (got to love how Halloween is *the* season for weddings in the gothic scene!). I had to get lots of work done because we had friends coming in from Australia. It was our first time meeting in person, and it's just amazing how people from opposite ends of the world can connect so easily. We gazed upon a castle, walked in cold sand along crashing waves of the Atlantic, frolicked in a pumpkin patch, danced into the wee hours, wandered the Halloweentown streets of Salem, went on a wild goose chase for all things *pumpkin*, enjoyed a night of Marchenfilme, and so much more all within a wet grey to black period of days and nights wherein the sun never appeared.
Now, the clock has chimed, the piper has appeared with hand outstretched, and it's back to work! When I get a few more moments, I'll post photos of some of these outings.

Date: 2005-10-14 05:55 pm (UTC)Wonderful, and true. Thank you for the reminder. This morning is, strangely, turning out to be full of gentle, hopeful indicators to me to recognize and celebrate the good things. What a blessing! Thank you.
