For those of you who weren't there, and for those of you who were!

I think *all* of my models from the opening show up in here at least once ~ either while being interviewed or in the background... Thank you all for being the dear friends you are, as well as representing the scene so well!

Enjoy!,

Yay! That's wonderful!

I didn't know Arkivestry still exists, but a friend of mine has a wonderful suit from them that's at least fifteen years old.

Yes, they're still around! We actually managed to catch a moment to chat with eachother at the opening, which was very nice.

I wish you *could* see it though... There's so much more that wasn't captured... we had to go back the next day when things were calmer just to absorb the grandeur and spectacle of it all better. I would have loved for you to have been at the opening with us!

A lovely glimpse of the exhibit for us Left-Coasters.

...is it wrong that when the announcer-guy said he wasn't going dressed the way he'd started the video dressed, my first response was 'oh thank heaven'?

Started watching but the camera work was giving me a headache :-). Must try later, after more coffee. What I saw looked really cool, though.

Give it another try later ~ the Coppola-esque "Dracula" editting calms down after the intro from what I'm remembering :)

Shame about the camera and sound quality!

Otherwise it's great :)

That presenter was the most stereotypical fashion museum worker ever!

Actually, I'm impressed the sound quality is as good as it is with how much was going on at every given moment that night ~ it's amazing you can hear what was being said at all! I know for me, it was all I could do to just try and hear my own thoughts when questions were being asked ;)

That presenter was the most stereotypical fashion museum worker ever!

Fantastic! Thank you so much for posting this. It's great to have a chance to see what it was like since I won't be able to make it over there. I'm still waiting impatiently for my copy of the book! *squirm*

The book should be arriving soon ~ the US printers apparently took a bit longer than other international ones, but it's started hitting the shelves, so it shant be long!

You would LOVE this show ~ it would be fantastic if for some reason you had to go out to New York by February :)

(Speaking of shows, I wish I could watch the debate with you tonight ~ sounds like an interesting gathering you've got planned out there!)

Oh, everyone looked so lovely! And it was very nice to hear your and Jola's voices.

My copy of the book arrived yesterday. I glanced through it quickly, and then set it down so I could be virtuous and work on my writing. As soon as this round of revisions are done, though, I'm spending a couple of hours with it!

Of course I kept pointing out the matching corset! Too bad that's not in the footage, but I was singing the praises of your work quite a bit (not to mention how much it got shown off just in our packed hotel room alone!) :)

Awww, that's such a sweet story about your great-grandfather, I don't think you're rambling at all!

Date: 2008-09-27 03:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kambriel.livejournal.com
Well, I bet I rambled more, but thankfully that's what editting's for ;)
It is a part of my family's history that I've always been very proud of though ~ the Japanese people really honoured and appreciated his intentions as well ~ there's a lot of depth to the story and it was hard to allude to it without going into things too deeply for a quick, otherwise lighthearted interview!

He was great, and did really well covering the event! I wish there was more coverage of the downstairs portion of the exhibit, but guess something has to be left for people to need to come and see the show for themselves ;)

How many times have you gone down to see it so far? :)

So pretty! I never seem to remember who made anything of mine, I'd be so embarressed if I ever got asked. I'm really upset i can't remember where my fantastic underbust is from. Got it at Whitby Goth Weekend from the best lady I met at the whole place and I *can't* remember who she was! Augh! I want to pimp her. Alas. maybe I'll run into her again next year, as I'm told she's often around.
Speaking of WGW, it's something that would love YOU to death!

There's a very good chance I may be coming to Whitby next year :)

Not mine. Actually that part of the video was filmed upstairs, and the exhibit itself for the most part is found downstairs. I seem to remember that mannequin was one where some of the patrons said it looked like their closet had been raided ;)
