I just got an email out of the blue from the casting director at Project Runway... can you believe I still haven't ever seen an episode of the show?

Not good timing for me since I've got a lot coming up during the schedule they mentioned, but pretty fun to be approached :)

It's for their new season (which the deadline is crazy soon for!).

Don't get your hopes up though, I really don't think it's something I would do because ironically, I'm too busy right now designing outfits for my models to wear for the opening of the exhibit in September :)

You know, it's funny because I use the phrase "Make it work" all the time ~ and as mentioned, have yet to see the show ~ if I haven't seen it by the next time we get together, we should do a viewing marathon together!

Actually, the truly funny part is the email came through right after checking the tv listings for a show I had missed!

Do you still think you & M might be coming to the opening in September, or will being ferants (sorry couldn't resist!) require you to stay closer to home? Email me if you think you can make it ~ we'd definitely like to come back up there afterwards too either way :)

Oh...no... it would be a stressful pressure cooker but how cool to see you on this show. The publicity even for non-winners is amazing. One of the challenges always ends in a chance to have your one winning item produced by a chain store in limited production. The down side being its a reality TV show meant to cause drama and conflict amongst the other designers.

How wrong is it that you say pressure cooker and my thoughts turn to Minestrone? O.K., I'm pretty sure that shouldn't be made in a pressure cooker anyway... ;)

I wonder where they produce the items that are made for the chain stores? I'd be making sure it was all ethically and environmentally sound. I can see it now ~ elegant clothing made from organic bamboo (actually I have a bolt of it now just waiting for a free moment)!

I'm such a sucker for Project Runway, I love it. It's like watching RISD on TV with more drama...I'd go out for it if I actually knew how to make clothes ;)))

It is amazing to think the year is only half way through, I definitely feel like it's been turning into a very full one so far (that's a big reason why I *didn't* originally plan on moving this year)! I'm learning that as much as I try to plan things out ahead of time, one always has to remember to leave "free space" for those things that come up which you never would have expected...

Ironically, earlier this year, I was planning to come out to your neck of the woods if at all possible (it feels like it's been far too long), but maybe next year will be better for that :)

But I think the whole experience would make me want to kill someone. I love the show, but like all reality TV, I think they slant things way in the favor of ratings...
And, oh god the challenges... They seem to get scarier and scarier every season. Still, it's awesome you were approached and you should try to watch some of the episodes somehow. You may be able to watch through Hulu.com (I think that's what it's called), some of the older seasons.

I love the show, although I usually only catch it when they are running marathons during one of the days I get to be at home doing stuff in front of the tv. I like heckling them, haha, but seriously, they will get some really talented folks on there that do some amazing work. Some of their challenges are so boring but others, like when they had to clothe female wrestlers are just fab!

As great as that show is, the Mad TV skit done off them was so freakin' dead on and hilarious, I cannot get it out of my head everytime I see the show.

How marvelous you were approached though, but yeah, more deadlines? Ahhhhhhh....

Although I must confess - these "reality" shows really seem to bring out the best and worst in people and I've yet to sit through one without cringing. Still, how awesomely flattering to be approached!! *tips her glass*

I find that show highly addicting. It's the one reality TV show that is creative, inspiring and relatively non-abusive to the people on it. That casting director is pretty smart to ask you to be on it, but in a way I think it's good you are to busy to do it! Who knows what goes on behind the scenes in those situations.
