In a sad kind of irony, I was just talking earlier today (hours before the news about Heath broke) about how even if we get to the point where 90% of our life feels like torment, one always needs to do their best to stick in there for the 10% that will be good (and I'm talking good in even the most simple sense or tiniest moment of joy). I think we owe it to those whose lives were stolen away from them far too soon (like my treasured friend [livejournal.com profile] nvayne), to *be* for every day we're blessed enough to be alive and here and able to talk and touch and feel and taste... Even if you feel utterly useless to yourself, there is always something you can do to at least use what you have to help someone else (which ironically, will end up helping you too).

I make it a point to not pass judgement. If Heath's death was an accidental or suicidal OD ~ time will tell. *If* it was suicide, just because his life looked like it had a golden glow from the outside, no one but him truly knew what he was dealing with within himself. His life may have been great by other people's standards, but sometimes people reach a point where happiness and joy is no longer able reach them.

To me, one of the biggest tragedies is that a celebrity gets all the mass "such a terrible loss" headlines and conversations, while lesser-known people die tragic, before-their-time deaths every day... people who sadly *will* pass with barely any notice (and that may indeed be part of why they gave in ~ who knows...). I just hope some of the prayers and healing energy out there go towards those people as well ~ not only the ones that have already passed, but the ones who are struggling with their own inner demons ~ or other illnesses beyond those of the psyche ~ right now.

If nothing else, this sort of thing is always a reminder to let those in your life know how much and why you appreciate them, and to remember that a kind word, or gentle look ~ even for a stranger ~ is never a wasted moment.

~Much love to you all,
~ Kambriel

Thank you Kambriel for those wonderful and meaningful words. He was one of my favorite actors and to hear my favorite designer say this about him and others makes me feel better.

I agree whole heartedly about how so many people die every day, and they are given no fanfare. I'm not familiar with Ledger's work, but I'll accept the general opinion that he was a talented actor. This is a loss to the world, as his death is a loss to his family and friends, but to me, this is no bigger loss than any other person who dies. (okay, I can think of people- Hitler, serial killers, etc, who are no loss to the world, but I'm speaking in general here) I second your hope that these common people will be given the prayers, healing energy and compasssion that celebrities are given when they suffer and die.

Thank you so much for saying this. I wish I could write down all the ways in which this resonates with me, but you managed to say it all much better than I could. It was exactly what I needed to read, though. Thank you.

How many times in our lives have we been at a point of nearly No Return and having moved past that into much better times, looked back and thought 'that was terrible, but that was then..." Lots of love to you, dear! Trying to catch up on things and caught your entry! XXOO, M

Yeah. I saw so many hangings over the holidays that it wasn't funny. No headlines for them...but I noticed.

Its always such a tragedy when things like drugs consume a person's life.

Your post put it beautifully; we should all choose to live, if even just for those brief tastes of happiness for ourselselves and those around us.

you said it sister!!! i was sitting down having dinner when my sister read the teleprompter on tv (tv was on silent at restaurant) and she said heath ledger was dead, i gasped!!! i just finished watching the day before the movie "candy" with abbie cornish and geoffrey rush. "candy" is about a love story with heroin abuse... i kept putting it off, b/c i didn't want to see another sid and nancy type movie... finally watched it and it was amazing how he submerged himself into the role... he was amazing... my heart completely dropped when i read the prompter myself!!! such a loss for all!!!
