What a nice surprise ~ thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ladytatiana for pointing this out to me :)

Apparently, one of my designs shown at the Moonlight Ball was just featured in today's Boston Globe Magazine!

The Clothes We Wear...

http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/magazine/galleries/2008/0120/clothes_we_wear?pg=2

If any of my friends in the area would be so kind as to send a copy (and make sure that Tonya gets one too!), that would be much appreciated :)

gah! didn't find out until much later in the day (from my client...who is the person who took the photo). i looked everywhere, but all of the papers today were sold out, from what i could tell (probably due to the big football game. bleh).

I'm sure football had no bearings on it, and the issue was probably sold out in record time due to our ever so lovely "socialite widowess extraordinaire" [livejournal.com profile] labellemargaux ;)

Well, hopefully someone will have copies on hand. Thank you (and your client) for the link either way :)

I still need to find out if Boston Magazine ran their feature of the Ball yet...

do you mean boston common magazine? if so, the one it would most likely be in didn't come out yet.

Ah yes, that's the one (the same one that was offered at the event) :)

I'm glad I didn't miss it ~ I'm betting they will do a very nice feature on the benefit since they were supporting it so much beforehand! Did you pick up a copy at the Ball? I was pleasantly surprised later on to see a full-colour ad for the Moonlight Ball in all it's Gorey-esque glory within it's pages.

Funnily enough, I was *just* showing this dress to [livejournal.com profile] madamekat the other day! I've held on to the original, but have plans to make a similar catalogue version as well... you'd look super devilishly-cute in it :)

Thanks so much :)

Ooh! I love that dress! Not that I'm partial to bats or anything, but that really is gorgeous.

The model is gorgeous, but the camera doesn't do the dress justice!! As I was lucky enough to see it last week, I can attest that the fabrics are utterly delicious!!

And I wish you could see the bat headdress better in the photo. It was all I could do to keep myself from putting it on and wearing it around your house!

I would have been utterly cheered by the image of you running/lounging around in the bat headdress ~ next time I want you to feel free to surprise me with a new outfit you've played dress-up in every time you enter the room!

Gorgeous! And furthermore, congrats on the publicity! I'm glad the roaring 20's are allegedly back, but alas, drop-waisted garments do no work on girls with ample curves in my experience. :(

I don't think there will be much in the way of publicity for it since sadly, the photo was uncreditted as far as I can tell... Still fun to see though!

Oh, and I actually designed this one to flare out a bit over the hips and bum ~ it's cinched in at the waist (which you can just barely see in the photo), so it actually works on other figures than just boy-straight as well :)

Hooray! You really ARE my Fairy God-Designer! I have wanted dresses like this ever since watching the Edward Gorey designed theme from Mystery on PBS as a kid. I am all about the 20s aesthetic, but it doesn't often suit curvy gals. If you do indeed add this to the catalogue, I shall have to add it to the exponentially growing list of things I want to order from you when I get a job.

Oooohhhh!!! *perks* I'm in the same boat -- adore flapper fashion, but I'm totally not built for it.

That is SUCH a gorgeous dress -- nice to get another look at it!

I'd definitely like to offer the design ~ it's just a matter of finding the right fabrics to use since the iridescent shades of this version in particular can often only come in limited batches. There's lots of opportunity for customization though with accent colours :)

I'm happy that this might be a way for you to finally enjoy the aesthetic in a flattering and comfortable way ~ it will be an honour to make some thing/s for you in the future!

Thanks ~ coming from a pretty flapper such as yourself, that's quite a compliment!
