A tribute for Laura ~ January 31, 2007

Two years ago today, Laura (nvayne) had to leave us, far before the time that any of us would have ever thought possible for such a vibrant soul. On this anniversary of her death, I want to celebrate her life by sharing an important update with you regarding her memorial:



Issue 22 of Gothic Beauty is now available for pre-order. This issue will feature the memorial photo tribute for Laura Purdy of The Pale Court. This tribute has been in the works for a year and a half, and the release of this issue brings it all to fruition.

Some of the items I completed for this memorial have been very difficult to part with, but it comforts me greatly to think of Laura's work being shared amoungst as many people as possible, so a few items have been added to the tribute offerings page. You can read more about the memorial and it's offerings here and here.

I know Laura would be so touched at how everyone pulled together to make this happen for her. My love and gratitude goes out to Daniel, Ruby, Chris, Sue, Claire, Libby, Elyse, Jen, Kat, Kori, and Tanya, for the parts they played and the spirit they gave to making this happen, as well as those of you who have given Laura a home within your thoughts and memories ~ for you are all helping to keep her spirit alive.

oh my goodness. Its absolutely beautiful on so many levels that transcend it being a magazine issue. When memories are preserved in a manner that really embodies the person loved and lost.

I can't wait to see this issue. I'm sure it will be beautiful, poignent. I've always liked her designs and now that I have a spare bit of money, I'm buying one of the purses.

Thank you for putting this together, I can't imagine the time that went into it, how hard it must have been. You're truely a marvel and a wonderful person to have done this.

I'm beyond happy that I'll be able to send one of her pieces to you. That's a goal I had with this ~ as easy as it would have been to succumb to sentimentality and hold on to it all, I wanted to finish her work so it could be spread amoungst people who might not have had a chance to get something of hers before.

I promise you that the piece will have a good home. Honestly, I've been looking at that bag on the website for a long time, every few weeks, wanting it but not having justification for buying it. I can't help myself any longer. It's so beautiful, with so much history and love attached to it. It's my pleasure to purchase it, really. Thank you for keeping her designs alive and doing this. Without you, I would never have a chance to own the bag. That means a lot.

I hope the article is everything you wanted and more. She deserves a good tribute.
