Phoenix-Peacock Silk ensemble
Mar. 7th, 2011 05:08 pmHere are a few quick snapshots taken before shipping off the silk Phoenix/Peacock inspired ensemble I posted an abstract preview of recently with the image of a plethora of variegated blue ruffles. I believe this was one of the largest arrays of distinctly vibrant colours I've ever worked into a single outfit, but am quite pleased with how they all came together and the balance I was able to strike with them in the end. Due to the angles, you can't even see all of the colours in these photos, but there were approximately a dozen different shades of silk provided, and I managed to use all of them, morphed into two families of warm and cool shades...
The underlayer has fiery Phoenix tones of pale and iridescent peaches, vibrant sunset orange and gold, ruby and garnet reds, with swirling panels echoing the feeling of flames coming up from the lower hem of the skirt:

Intriguingly, this seemed to come out with a military-esque vibe at the upper front with the distinctive silhouette and multiple rows of gold buttons:

The cool blue, teal, aqua, turquoise and sapphire Peacock tones of the Isabella Coatdress overcoat, enbellished with rows of undulating bias silk flounces:

(Also included, but not shown here will be a reversible wrap with warm tones on one side and cool tones on the other, and a matching Gorey Bag.)

Edit: I need to get ready for something this week, but I really do appreciate all of your very kind compliments!

Date: 2011-03-07 10:16 pm (UTC)As I said before: Love the swirly flame on the skirt and the cascades of peacock 'feathers' on the coat. So swishy and dramatic and positively divine. I am absolutely in love with them and I haven't even held them in my own two hands yet. I can't wait to wear them.
I hope you had fun designing the outfits, and you certainly did play the colors off each other for fantastic effect. Not an easy request, but with such amazing results, no?
You know, the military outlook may have been subliminal, given that you knew it was to be worn to a contemporary military ball...Fitting and appropriate!
